The Port Townsend Farmers Market hosts the fourth annual Port Townsend Artisan Food Festival on Saturday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free community celebration then takes a break before moving to Propolis Brewing, where it continues from 5 to 10 p.m.
“I am really looking forward to the Artisan Food Festival this year,” said market director Amanda Milholland. “We have a great lineup of visiting vendors, which highlight the diversity of our local food on the Olympic Peninsula. This is a great event to attend hungry as there will be so many flavors to savor.”
Arran Stark of Jefferson Healthcare kicks off the event by shopping the market for seasonal produce to use in his chef demonstration, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Following Stark, chefs Kelly Bell of Gray Wolf Ranch and Gabriel Schuenemann of Alder Wood Bistro in Sequim prepare local foods from the market for visitors to sample and to inspire their home cooking.
In addition to the chef demonstrations, Mt. Townsend Creamery plans to pair its cheeses with fresh tastes from the market.
Visiting artisan food vendors include Green Heart Smoothie, Eagles Song Health and Wellness, Sputnik’s Fries, Flutter By Pizza Pie, Barbarian Fine Cuisine and Lioness Organics. Bring the whole family. The Port Townsend Cooperative Playschool is to host activities for children on the community center lawn.
In the evening, the festival moves to Propolis for dancing, artisan food, craft beer, local cider, live music and kids’ activities. Abakis and Dirty Beet Duo are set to perform at 6 and 8 p.m. respectively.
Visiting food vendors include Fiddlehead Creamery, La Crepe de Quimper, the Salmon Wagon, Barbarian Fine Cuisine and Flutter By Pizza Pie.
