Art Walk: Dizzying, diverse art by Raquel Stokes

Posted

A selection of works by Port Townsend artist Raquel Stokes are to be displayed at Taps at the Guardhouse at Fort Worden beginning on Saturday, Feb. 4, during Art Walk.

A self-taught “paintress” and collagist, Stokes said she feels no need to be constrained by the conventions of these mediums, and has formulated her style over years of creative experimentation. Her sources of inspiration come from nature and life's absurdities. Her artwork is a reflection of how she sees the world: dizzying, vibrant and diverse.

“I am driven by a primordial curiosity, and inspired by nature and life’s absurdities,” she said.

Visit Taps at the Guardhouse, Fort Worden’s pub and eatery located in Building 300, during the First Saturday Art Walk to view Stokes’ art, partake in dining, and enjoy libations and spirits from Northwest craft brewers, wineries and cideries. Art Walk takes place 5:30-8 p.m., Feb. 4.
