Welcome, Martha!

Longtime arts community member Martha Worthley is the new Interim Executive Director of Northwind Art. She steps into the role following Teresa Verraes' seven years of leading the organization. Verraes is taking a well-earned break — while staying in Port Townsend to cheer Northwind Art on as it enters a brand-new year.

"I am energized to make a difference," Worthley said. She brings a variety of skills learned over 40-plus years in Jefferson County as a Centrum program leader, teacher, journalist and art business owner. Worthley started in her new role November 27, and has been meeting with staff, volunteers and supporters to map Northwind Art's future.

Reach Worthley via email: director@northwindart.org.

Art walks

The First Friday Artwalk of the New Year is Friday, January 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Majestic Inn and Spa at 419 Commercial Ave. introduces work by artist Megan Marler.  Marler’s artwork produced by Full Circle Concept and Design is a fun twist of realism and whimsical. Capturing the beauty of nature and animals with a flare of color and fantasy.

The Scott Milo Gallery at 420 Commercial Ave. has replenished the December show with new pieces through January with acrylics by Jennifer Bowman, photo encaustics by Kathy Hastings, impressionistic watercolors by Eric Wiegardt, small and large oils by Lorna Libert and ceramic mosaics by Michael Laboon. Also featuring a new collection of jewelry, glass, sculptures and custom tables.

Visit the studios above Scott Milo Gallery at 1010 5th Street and see paintings by Cathy Schoenberg, and Michael Clough. Climb the stairs and see exciting paintings, prints and sculptures.

Trinity Skate at 705 Commercial Ave. will showcase their new featured artist, Carol Cuminale. She is a collector of words and mixes them with color splashed for one-of-a-kind art pieces. Browse their gallery and enjoy some snacks and beverages.
