The Jefferson Community Foundation’s Fund for Women & Girls is to host representatives from Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH), Jefferson Healthcare and Planned Parenthood to talk about the issues and challenges facing health care services for women and girls.

The panel, titled “A Call to Action: The Future of Women’s Health Care,” is set for 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St. The event is free and open to the public.

The forum is part of the fund’s new and expanding direction to further spur community action to address women’s and girls’ needs, according to a press release. This year, the fund’s grant and education focus is on women’s health.

The health care providers represented on the panel work with women and girls of all ages on myriad matters, including family planning, prenatal support and maternity care, breastfeeding support and supplies, mammograms, menopause and aging, and screening and counseling for sexually transmitted infections and cervical cancer, according to a press release.

For seven years, the Fund for Women & Girls, a field-of-interest fund of the Jefferson Community Foundation, has used proceeds of its annual Wearable Art Show to support various community programs. The fund’s mission is “to change lives so women and girls can be safe, secure, equal and empowered.”
