Spring time and warming weather mean it is time to pull out the golf clubs and visit the driving range. Women’s Golf Clubs in the area are now in full swing of their seasons from April through September. Camas Prairie Golf Park and Discovery Bay women’s clubs have had three weeks of both weather and competitions heating up.
The women in both clubs are adding new member to their ranks and planning special events commemorating milestones in 2025. The Camas Prairie Golf Park, a multi-use recreational facility, will be celebrating it’s 121st year at the monthly First Sunday in the Park on May 4, 2025. At Discovery Bay Golf Club, the Women’s Club is planning a special May 8th competition in recognition of its 100th year in operation.At Discovery Bay twelve women competed in the game of “Criers and Whiners” in which players can use mulligans (do-overs) to improve their game performance. Each player may take a number of do-over shots equal to half of her HCP. The resulting winners were 1st place Wanda Synnestvedt with 73; Cindy Breed 2nd with 77; Sherilyn Ulland 3rd with 78 and Robin Best 4th place with 80. Across town at Camas Prairie Golf Park, the women’s club played “Putt For Dough” in which the player with the lowest number of putts in the 9 hole round wins. First Place with 16 putts was Barb Aldrich; a tie for 2nd place with 17 putts went to Rita Beebe and Jayne Neu, and a tie for 3rd place with 18 regulation putts went to Dee Sweeney and Robin Best.
