A 52-year-old Oregon woman was hurt in a one-car crash Monday afternoon on US Highway 101 just south of Brinnon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the woman, a resident of Scotts Mills, will be charged with driving under the influence, having an open container of alcohol, and no insurance.

Charges of failure to wear a seat belt and operating a vehicle with wheels off the roadway are also expected.

The woman’s DUI driving caused the crash, the State Patrol reported.

The driver was heading south on Highway 101 near Pleasant Harbor when her 2002 Hyundai Elantra went off onto the right shoulder of the road then went into the ditch.

The Hyundai kept going until it struck the embankment and then hit trees next to the road.

The woman was taken to Mason General Hospital for medical treatment.

The Hyundai was totaled and was removed from the scene by All City towing.
