A 73-year-old woman who had symptoms of a mild cardiac infarction was airlifted from a cruise ship near Port Angeles Monday.
Coast Guard watchstanders at the 13th Coast Guard District Command Center in Seattle received a medical evacuation request from the cruise ship Westerdam while the ship was approximately 46 miles west of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
With visibility low, the crew of the cruise ship was directed to continue sailing toward Port Angeles.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles arrived at the ship at 8:50 a.m. Monday as the vessel neared Port Angeles.
Coast Guard officials said the woman was lifted off the shop and transferred to an EMS team at approximately 10 a.m. Oct. 3.
