Art takes flight in July at Northwind Art’s Best Gallery.

“If I Had Wings,” a 2D and 3D exhibit celebrating birds as metaphor, opens Thursday, July 1 and continues through Sunday, August 29.

Featuring artists are Martha Pfanschmidt, Marie Hassett, Chris Maynard, Robin and John Gumaelius, Margaret Woodcock, Stephen O’Donnell, Margaret Van Patten, Keaney Rathbun, and Bethany Rowland. The works in this exhibit range from acrylics to oils, intaglio prints to mixed media sculpture, feather and fiber art.

Two online talks with the artists are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug 11.

For the first talk, Keany Rathbun will lead a Zoom conversation among the artists of the exhibit about their work, influences, inspiration and processes.

Martha Pfanschmidt will then be joined by some of the other artists to talk informally about the exhibit and their works.

Participants are encouraged to bring questions about the exhibit and their work.

Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. The gallery is at 701 Water St., Port Townsend.
