William Paul Sahlinger, 88, of Port Townsend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 9, 2022 in his home on Beckett Point.

Bill was born in Seattle on Sept. 15, 1933 to Arthur and Lucille Sahlinger. He graduated from Highline High School in 1951 and was drafted as a baseball pitcher by the Philadelphia Phillies. He served in active military Army duty for four years during the Korean war, and served in the National Guard for 21 years. He retired from Boeing in 1992 after 40 years.

Through the years Bill enjoyed playing golf, fishing, crabbing, cooking, and reading. He was very talented at writing though he never pursued that path. Bill was a man of few words with a big, kind heart.

Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patti, as well as seven children and stepchildren. Bill had 24 grandchildren of which he loved following and attending their athletic games, be it baseball, soccer, basketball, wrestling, javelin, or lacrosse.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bill to The Kellen CARES Foundation (kellencares.org/donate) or Hospice Foundation for Jefferson Healthcare (hospicefoundationjhc.org/donate/).
