Feb. 14, 1942 – June 23, 2018
William J. Hendricks (Bill), 76, of Vancouver, WA, passed away June 23, 2018 after a long battle with COPD. He was born in Port Townsend on February 14, 1942 to Ralph and Marjorie Hendricks. Bill graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1960.
He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961 and retired after a 30-year career as an E-9 Master Gunnery Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank. Bill also retired from the Vancouver School District after working there 15 years.
Bill leaves behind his wife and partner of 54 years, Jeanine L. Hendricks; sons Carl (wife Kerri and children Morgan and Trenton) of Mount Vernon, WA, and Brian (wife Jo and children Taylor and Mckenna) of Vancouver, WA and his sister Susan Bumgarner (husband Jim) of Port Townsend, WA, and niece, Molly Levitt of Mercer Island, WA and nephew, Christopher Bumgarner of Ventura, CA.
Bill attended Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene in Vancouver, WA where a celebration of life was held on July 21, 2018. He will be interred at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle with full military honors on August 4 at 2:00 p.m. Address: 11220 Aurora Ave. N, Seattle, WA (east side in Military Section).
