Washington State Ferries on Dec. 10 placed a temporary weight restriction for vehicle access to the
Edmonds-Kingston ferry route.
The temporary weight restriction is being imposed until further notice due to a rotten wooden piling on the Edmonds Ferry Terminal’s transfer span. Oversize and over-width (more than 8-foot-6-inch) vehicles are not be permitted to travel on the ferry during this time, Washington State Ferries announced Friday afternoon, Dec. 9.
Vehicles weighing less than 80,000 pounds are allowed on the condition that they adhere to the new maximum weight guidelines: one-axle vehicle, 20 tons (40,000 pounds); two-axle vehicle, 31 tons (62,000 pounds); and three-axle vehicle, 40 tons (80,000 pounds).
Signs are to be posted at the terminal as a reminder of these guidelines.
