My dog Rusty and I frequently walk down the hill on Washington Street from the post office to the fountain. It seems like one can only see the lovely view of the bay and the downtown from a few spots anymore due to the overgrowth of the ivy, blackberries and other invasives.

Doesn’t Port Townsend have a brush cutter?

Rusty is not so much concerned with the view as he is with all the foxtails taking over the sidewalks and the huge increase in the deer herd.

It seems prudent to take care of the basics and the things one already has rather than always adding more do-dads and projects to muck up the scene. It’s like people who have to keep buying new things all the time in order to momentarily feel good.

Remember, the more you know the less you need.
