The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 138 calls between Friday, Dec. 17, and Thursday, Dec. 23.  Below are selected reports.

At 8:13 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, a child called to report that their mother was using substances and needed help. When officers responded, the woman stated she was fine and did not need help.

At 10:07 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17,  a woman in the 400 block of 26th Street said she was getting calls and texts from blocked and random numbers. Officers contacted another woman, using one of the unknown numbers, and asked her to stop calling the woman who complained of the harassment.

Suspicions of infidelity were the cause of the calls, and they were unfounded.

At 5:23 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, a caller in the 800 block of Sheridan Street said a man had left the hospital after being seen for his mental health, but had been advised not to do by medical staff. Before officers arrived, the man, who was active duty military, returned to the hospital.

At 12:14 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, an employee from a business in the 200 block of Sims Way said video surveillance showed a woman stealing firewood. Officers were unable to determine the identity of the woman. It was determined that she took $200 worth of firewood and a hand truck.

At 4:32 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, officers observed a man walking up the S curves near the 800 block of Sims Way, weaving in and out of traffic.

When they contacted the man, he said he needed a ride to Tacoma. It appeared the man might be experiencing some mental health issues, and he told officers he was going to the hospital.

At  5:29 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, officers stopped a blue truck in the vicinity of Sims Way and Sheridan Street. The driver was warned to display their license plate correctly so it could be seen.

At 3:28 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, someone reported that a woman sitting in a parked car by the American Legion Hall was hitting the windshield of the car.

Officers contacted the woman, who said she was wiping water off the windshield. She didn’t show any signs of distress.
