Blue Heron Middle School in Port Townsend is home to a Title 1/LAP math and reading tutor program that, under the direction of reading specialist Diane Frame, has been making a difference.
For several years Frame has used skilled senior volunteer tutors. Once again the search for eligible and willing tutors is under way.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), serving Jefferson and Clallam counties, is partnering now with Frame and Blue Heron to recruit tutors. The optimal number of tutors is about eight. Each is paired with one or two students in reading and/or math.
RSVP/VISTA is seeking volunteers on Frame's behalf. Contact VISTA volunteer Bill Dwyer at OlyCAP, 385-2571, ext. 6313.
