Born Viirginia Whisnant in Seattle, she lived most of her life locally.  She graduated from Chimacum High School and her first job was on a Puget Sound Black Ball Line ferry.

She married Francis "Red" McLeod and resided 25 years on Marrowstone Island during which time she worked at Chimacum Cafe and Reeds Market in Port Hadlock.

After moving into Port Townsend she worked for several businesses, including Don's Pharmacy.

Virginia was  known for her excellent gardening skills, beautiful yards and being an accomplished seamstress. She sewed everything from Chimacum High cheerleading uniforms to exquisite wedding gowns.

Most recently she lived in Vancouver, Wash., where she passed away peacefully in her home, with daughters Claudia and Robin, also of Vancouver, by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband. In addition to her daughters she is also survived by sisters Linda Lacosse of Port Townsend,  Marlene Yandell of Turner, Oregon, and Mikki Williams of Chapala Jalisco, Mexico; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At her request no funeral service will be held.
