I support public art, but I can’t recall anyone praising the three sculptures along F Street or the white pillars scattered around town. Do we need another odd sculpture to join the giant gear wheel in Pope Marine Park?
I would propose a large Victorian mural covering the water side of the Landing building. This would greatly enhance the view of our downtown historic area as seen by arriving tourists on the ferry or boats. An excellent example of this can be seen in Ladysmith, in the Gulf Islands.
As an aside, while I abhor vandalism and graffiti, I must admit that the vandalism to the white pillars much improved the pillars’ appearance and interest.
