One person has died and two others were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a three-vehicle accident early Friday afternoon, Jan. 20 in Jefferson County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a vehicle crossed the center line on State Route 19 near Embody Road and struck a semi-truck, also described as a box truck.
The driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line died, according to trooper Russ Winger of the Washington State Patrol. Two passengers in a second vehicle were injured, and airlifted, according to Winger's preliminary information.
The accident scene is about 3 miles north of the SR 19 intersection with SR 104.
Both SR 19 lanes are blocked, the Jefferson County Emergency Operation Center first reported 1:32 p.m. The highway is not expected to be reopened until Friday evening, which means Friday afternoon school bus traffic won't be able to make routine stops along SR 19.
