Under 20 age group has largest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in county

People under the age of 20 have had the most COVID-19 infections in Jefferson County, according to data compiled by Jefferson County Public Health.

A total of 100 residents in that age group — birth up to age 19 — have tested positive for coronavirus.

The age group with the next highest number of infections are those who are 60 to 69 (80 confirmed cases of COVID-19), followed by those who are between 30 and 39 (75).

Jefferson County health officials reported 497 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the county since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 23 residents were still in isolation Tuesday due to potential COVID-19 contact.

Test results were pending for another 29 residents.

County health officials reported Tuesday there have been 26,724 tests for COVID-19 in the county since the start of the pandemic, and 26,198 have resulted in negative results.

In Jefferson County, 446 people have recovered from COVID-19 and 35 people have been hospitalized for the disease. 

Four deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19.
