Tyrrell piano seeks new home

Posted

This letter is to share my disappointment in having to move my small Baldwin piano from the waiting room on the third floor at Jefferson Hospital where it’s been since I donated it in late 2003 for the sole purpose of playing music for the patients and staff each week.

I deeply believe and know that the power of music to soothe and heal is essential and brings a deep peace to patients when they are recovering.

Many times nurses had told me “Thank you” as well as the chaplain when I was playing some songs from the Sound of Music or some folk melodies or hymns.

So after three weeks now I have found a temporary home for my piano until I find its final resting place for others to play and enjoy the beautiful sounds that musicians can create when they play from their heart and soul like I did.

I am grateful I had that opportunity and sad that the hospital had no more place for my piano.

It’s time for me to move on and discover new roads to travel with my music.
