A Lakewood driver who was eluding Washington State Patrol collided with a Port Orchard driver in Discovery Bay in Jefferson County on the morning of April 30.
Lacey Smith, 25, was heading eastbound on state Route 101, eluding a fully-marked Washington State Patrol vehicle, and Jeffrey Lydon, 58, was heading northbound on state Route 101, when Smith failed to negotiate a curve due to her speed, and her vehicle, a 2006 Hyundai, struck Lydon’s vehicle, a 2003 semi-truck, at 7:12 a.m. at Milepost 282, where both vehicles came to a stop.
Neither Smith nor Lydon were injured. Lydon was wearing his seat belt. State Route 101 was fully blocked until Washington State Patrol Trooper Chelsea Hodgson announced via Twitter at 10:33 a.m. that it was open again. Hodgson stated the incident remains under investigation.
