Sirens sounded throughout Port Townsend Thursday, Oct. 15 as part of the Great Washington Shakeout disaster drill. The drill exercise was intended to test the All Hazard Alert Broadcast system in Port Townsend in the event of an earthquake.

Nick Twietmeyer of The Leader visited the outdoor plaza at the Northwest Maritime Center, where one of the tsunami sirens is located, during the drill and captured the reaction of those enjoying a day in the sun.
