Trio ties for win in British Stableford play

Discovery Bay Women’s Golf Club took to the course earlier this month for a game of “British Stableford.”

In this 18-hole competition the players record their net score per hole (gross minus handicap) to determine whether they received one point for a “Stableford” bogey, two points for a par, three points for a birdie or four points for an eagle.

In the end, there was a three-way tie for first place. Jane Guiltinan, Sheila Kilmer and Wanda Synnestvedt earned 34 points each.

Second place went to Dee Sweeney with 31 points and Starla Audette came in third place with 30 points. Synnestvedt won the putting competition with 31 putts and Audette came in second with 32 putts.

Port Townsend Women’s 9-hole Club played a game called “4s” on May 4, whereby the scores are counted only on the par 4 holes (holes 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9).

The gross winners Barb Matter in first with a 31 and Starla Audette in second with a 33.

The net winners were Karen Michaud in first place with a 22, and Vicki Young in second with a 24.
