Three-car accident sends woman to Harborview

An 80-year-old Port Townsend woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with a head injury after a three-car accident occurred Wednesday afternoon, June 3 on Sims Way at Kearney Street in Port Townsend. Other occupants of the vehicles were shaken up but unhurt, according to a press release sent from East Jefferson Fire Rescue (EJFR).

At 11:52 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, EJFR was alerted to a three-car accident occurring in the 2200 block of East Sims Way at Kearney Street.

A blue Ford Focus driving eastbound slowed for a red light at Kearney Street, according to the vehicle's occupants. They had completely stopped when a gray Toyota Camry struck them once from behind, and then struck them again. The Camry had also been struck from behind twice by a Mercury Grand Marquis station wagon, driven by a 90-year-old Port Townsend woman.

The driver of the Camry, an 80-year-old Port Townsend woman, suffered a head laceration and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Public safety personnel shut down East Sims way at Kearney Street for about 20 minutes for the accident.
