Meanwhile, a brief interlude of time for future generations to look back upon . . .

A reader once asked me challengingly if I thought one man alone (meaning Donald Trump) could destroy the earth. I still feel that given Donald enough time in office as an incompetent, ignorant and self-serving president there was little doubt about it.

And the question remains meaningful as long as he can continue waving money around and convincing the inattentive that he will get them something free of cost.

The real cost, of course, is just kicked down the road for our children and grandchildren to deal with. It includes the very earth that sustains — for the moment — today’s young and all of those who will follow the lot of us.

I’ll pause hera to quote one of my favorite writers of late, night editor of HuffPost, Ed Mazza. He reports that Trump is reportedly telling those close to him that he expects to be reinstated as president over the summer despite losing the 2020 Election. The headline to thus story reads: “‘Delusional’ Trump mocked on Twitter over unhinged new conspiracy theory,” and you may call it up there on your computer.

According to New York Times reporter Marge Haberman, Trump has been parroting a recent conspiracy theory that’s been popular among his QAnon followers.” Trump says he expects to be reinstated by August.

“In any case there is no legal mechanism to ‘reinstate’ a former present other than winning an election, which Trump did not do.”

Is he sane? Who’s to say? And who’s to say what drives the occasional Trump supporter who agrees with Donald’s accusation of some sort of “coup” led by ”media manipulation.” And when one fastens on this last as a defense of Trump from this ever-ready “Mainstream Media,” let’s stop and consider The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, the Philadelphia Inquirer, USA Today, the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune, the Denver Post  . . .  and on and on and on . . ..

They were all in on it?

I’ll pause here to include a couple of comments by troll Justin Hale that I have left unanswered. On May 20 after Biden had been in office exactly four months, Hale wrote: “Take away this damn pandemic and compare our situation after four years of Trump with six months of Biden. Is the border more secure? Are gas prices going up? Are the prices of lumbar/groceries going up?” That extra two months thrown into the soup is half the actual brief time Biden/Harris had been in office a few weeks ago, on May 20.

Four days before I write this, Hale wrote that Trump will go down in history as the worst president ever “Only in the minds of the haters and those who let the MSM do their thinking for them.”

There it is again, that undefined reference to a handy scapegoat! Someone should make a point of telling Justin along in LATE JULY, the 20th to be exact, that Biden and Harris have finally spent six months in office.

On June 2, the top of-page-one headline in The Seattle Times read “Biden administration freezes ANWR oil and gas leases.” Biden/Harris had been in office four months, 11 days. The Trump administration auctioned off the right to drilling the refuge’s coasts plain — home to thousands of migrating caribou and water fowl as well as the southern Beaufort ‘Sea’s remaining polar bears — just two weeks before President Biden was inaugurated, just five months ago. as I write this.

Treasury secretary Janet Yelling will be meeting Friday (also as I write this) with G-7 finance ministers in London. A June 1 headline in the Seattle Times read: “G-7 expected to back Biden on global minimum corporate tax.” Google that headline for this Washington Post story that begins: “‘Finance ministers from ‘Group of Seven’ nations on Friday are expected to back President Joe Biden’s call for a global minimum tax on corporate profits, giving him an early win in a grueling diplomatic campaign that is just beginning . . .”

I think the Biden-Harris team has worked wonders in getting the country back on its feet since the disaster of Donald Trump. But let’s remember that in less than a year we will be voting for party control of both houses of Congress. We’ve only just begun.
