The honeymoon is over

Richard White. Really? The Leader “journalist” covering the County Commissioners’ public hearing regarding the Olympic Discovery Trail didn’t even bother to get the name right. And this just makes me wonder what else she didn’t get right in her articles.

And this is just a somewhat small inaccuracy compared with the growing pile of very, very poor product from our local paper. Even if I overlook the total non-coverage of significant, upcoming local events, if The Leader can’t be relied on to report clearly and accurately, what is the use of the paper? If, by reading The Leader, I’m taking in misinformation, why should I spend my time, and my money, on a subscription? I can get misinformation from plenty of other sources.

How in the world have you taken an award-winning community newspaper and turned it into a chaos of inaccuracy, blundering, and poor editorial choices? The honeymoon is over and weekly apologies just don’t cut it. If you follow the chain of ownership, The Leader isn’t even an independent paper.

And his name is Richard Wojt, a man who served us with distinction as a Jefferson County Commissioner.
