The fun continues

OK, we all seem to be shedding the colds or whatever we had running through our house, so life is getting better. Wrong-o. The good news is that with improving health we are better able to handle the crises. The bad news is that the clothes dryer went out, and we embarked on a mission to replace it.

In addition, given a recent history of repairs to both the washer and the dryer, we decided to replace both. Hey, we were looking for a gift for each other for Valentine’s Day. Then it was off to Sears to determine the correct machines and find somewhere to dry our clothes for the next week. Ah, the value of friends.

The South Bay Community Association hosted a chili cook-off last week and invited many of its friends and neighbors from the North Bay. I suspect there were at least 200 folks there experiencing the camaraderie of the Port Ludlow locals. A friendly fellow by the name of Joe came up to me and confessed to enjoying this column. I asked about his last name in anticipation of mentioning it here and all I caught was that it started with a “V.”

Consequently, he shall now forever be known as “Joe Vial.” At least by me.

The Adorables had another hit performance this year at the North Bay potluck. The theme was a camping trip by Port Ludlow ladies to Mount Rainier.

Most reviews put it as the best performance of all five so far. Nancy Bonderson is just now hitting her stride as the writer, producer, director and piano player for the production. Pang, the 17-year-old foreign exchange student staying with us, was mystified by the talents on display by all those women, who are somewhere between three and four times her age. Frankly, so am I.

The next LMC event at The Beach Club is a wine and cheese gathering, Thursday, Feb. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. As long as you are of age, whatever that is these days, it should be a fun time.

Once again, a reminder that the Port Ludlow Performing Arts is bringing us the production of “The Enchanted Tail” at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26 at The Bay Club. The program is an opportunity to bring your children or, more likely, grandchildren to see this joyful musical story full of fun and interactive songs telling the story of a mischievous fox and an enchanted princess. Victoria Robertson, as the princess, and Bernardo Bermudez, as the fox, bring the characters to life and encourage all the children to participate in the adventure. Tickets are available at The Bay Club or online at portludlowperformingarts.com.

In the interest of providing good advice, I share some wisdom from Roger Lincoln: “There are two rules for success: 1. Don’t tell everything you know.”

Love a curmudgeon and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
