We need to implement the overwhelming mandate to address the existential health crisis in America, the sickest of all developed countries and costing the most. Health is not a partisan issue. Certainly Senator Murray and Mr. Kennedy have common health concerns and points of agreement. Senator Murray can be instrumental in bringing forward beneficial health reform. A sincere collaboration of shared health goals will demonstrate her commitment to expedite meaningful advancement in reversing the chronic disease epidemic. Senator Murray must concede that the health decline and the resulting costs — $4.5 trillion or 17.3% of GDP in 2022 according to the government Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services — must be addressed.
The chronic disease epidemic is RFK Jr.’s paramount and concentrated concern. This crisis condition requires a coordinated and cooperative effort by those with the responsibility and power to make critical choices in furthering meaningful reduction in the escalation of chronic disease.
Senator Murray has the opportunity to be part of the solution, to use her power and influence to bring beneficial leadership, policy and approaches to our government health agencies. Kennedy has stated, as secretary of HHS, he will implement necessary reforms to improve school meals nutrition, air and water quality, remove toxins, dyes and chemicals from our foods and soils, authorize research to examine the health and fertility decline, promote and incentivize healthy lifestyles, support family farms, introduce drug addiction “farm” programs, address childhood diabetes and support the most important community — family.
The elephant in Patty’s room is vaccines. Kennedy has repeatedly stated he will NOT limit, remove access or availability of any vaccines. Patty can disagree with a myth but the major and overwhelming health crisis concerns are far more prevalent, important and urgent to her Washington constituents and the citizens of United States. Senator Murray can provide a much needed demonstration and example of unity, consensus and support to advance and address the health crisis by voting in favor or RFK Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
