Stop using ‘TERF’

TERF is a lazy, dehumanizing terminology used by those with an inability to articulate their argument to justify aggression, violence, name calling, intimidation, and bullying women that believe differently. Women they view as less than or not deserving of human rights, dignity, inclusion, safety and Constitutional rights.

The label carries a pejorative sting as it is tied to accusations of bigotry, transphobia and homophobia. TERF is a permission slip to justify harassment campaigns.

TERF is a silencing, stereotyping, prejudice, abusive, derogatory slur used to rally mobs against individuals, leading to coordinated attacks, and public shaming.

TERF is polarizing, discourages individuality and shuts down dialogue by assigning a moral failing, inflaming tensions and discouraging constructive discussion.

Conservatives did not start nor organize the events to stand up for women’s rights. ALL PT, PNW and national speaking events where women were called TERFS were organized by liberal women.

TERF is not a promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, dignity, safety and “human rights for all” but instead exclusionary. And directly in opposition to the values of pride.

In a movement that proclaims to be fighting to be called what they want to be called, they call women TERFS without even knowing anything about the women or considering what they want to be called.

I do not consider myself a liberal or a conservative, nor am I a part of any “group think.” I am an individual sovereign free thinking woman.

I have been an out lesbian for 40 years. I have always felt more masculine than feminine. I have been around trans folks my entire life.

In 2015, Gays and Lesbians got equal rights to marry. Pride became a movement far from its origins, one of exclusion and not Inclusion.
