A dance performance and literary reading complement the visual arts on display during Art Walk on Saturday, Sept. 2.

In Uptown at the Room to Move studio, members of Moving Arts: Dance Is for Life give a free dance “informance.” “I love informances,” said dancer Mary Lou Sanelli. “They are informal, in studio, in keeping with everything I love about dance without the pressure or cost of full-stage production.”

Along with Sanelli, dancers include Stephanie Cain, Shanta Corra, Salina Harmon and Anna Pederson.

The event takes place 5:30-7 p.m. at 1008 Lawrence St. The event is to include PowerPoint images, several repertoire pieces, works in progress and a piece choreographed to perform at Northwest bird festivals.

Downtown at Key City Public Theatre, 419 Washington St., readings of short stories written by award-winning author Pam Houston are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the courtyard behind the playhouse. The PT Shorts event is presented by the theater in collaboration with Northwind Arts Center.

The readings feature selected works from Houston’s most recent book, “Contents May Have Shifted,” published in 2012. Houston also is the author of two collections of linked short stories, “Cowboys Are My Weakness” and other works.

Inside the playhouse, a Concerts at the Key event begins at 7:30 p.m. The concert features the Eagle Mountain String Band and Christa Holbrook. Visit keycitypublictheatre.org.
