The Washington State Patrol has identified the Port Hadlock man who was killed in a one-car crash Wednesday near Gorst.
The State Patrol said Samuel R. May, 63, died after his 2008 Ford Econoline van crossed all lanes of Highway 16 and struck the pedestrian staircase at the Highway 16/Highway 3 overpass.
The crash occurred 11 a.m. Aug. 5 as May was driving west on Highway 16, the State Patrol said. No other vehicles were involved.
The crash remains under investigation, and the State Patrol said drugs or alcohol was a factor.
The driver's identity was initially withheld pending notification to the driver's next of kin, which was handled Wednesday afternoon by a lieutenant with the State Patrol.
