How are you doing with the webbed feet this winter? Holy rain gauge, it has been wet. Thankfully, there are doctor’s appointments and other attractive indoor activities available. Even more thankfully, aren’t you glad you did not have tickets to the Super Bowl and have to walk through subzero temperatures to get into the stadium as your hair froze and you can’t feel your nose anymore?

I went to get some medical advice on a very bothersome hip last week, and the news was bittersweet. The ache I get in the hip is thought to be the result of some deteriorating nerves around some back surgery I had back in 1982. Great, no surgery! Solving the problem involves several weeks of therapy down at Active Life getting appropriate exercises and advice. Unfortunately, the doctor also suggested that losing weight would drastically improve the pain.

Heck, BJ could have told me that. I didn’t need to go to Silverdale, wait in the lobby for 30 minutes and fill out one more lengthy form recording my medical life story on several pages. In addition, how is a guy supposed to drop the lard with a weekend filled with a wine tasting on Friday, a trip to Seattle to see “Mamma Mia!” on Saturday, the Super Bowl party on Sunday, and Dine and Discover on Monday. Ah, nothing is easy.

INTERSECTION PLAYS

A reminder that I told you a couple of weeks ago about the upcoming evening of entertainment being provided by the Port Ludlow Performing Arts. The group called Intersection performs an “irresistible blend of classical, jazz, Latin, Broadway/fill music plus some of their own compositions and arrangements.”

The performance is Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Bay Club.

Again this year, The Adorables, about 20 North Bay women, are singing at what used to be the annual Beach Club Talent Show. It is now known just as the Beach Club pot luck dinner, since I and a few others spoiled the term “talent show” when we performed on pianos a few years ago. I stopped in at The Beach Club to take in a practice session since I will be out of town at a Rotary meeting when BJ performs, an obligation not designed to create marital bliss. No matter, The Adorables are in fact adorable. This is the sixth year for the group, and under the direction of Nancy Bonderson, there is again a theme. This time they are writing a cookbook. These women have huge fun, and you will enjoy the evening with them.

I did get up at 5:30 a.m. the other day to see the highly publicized “super blue blood moon,” which last appeared in these parts about 125 years ago. What a bust! Can you believe the sky was full of clouds with rain coming out of them?

So, I offer the following observation from a recent “Between Friends” comic strip: “I’m starting to regret less the things I regret doing and regret more the things I didn’t.”
