Experience counts! Lorna Smith’s experience and service in local governments surpasses the other candidates.
For example, she served for
25 years in Snohomish County supervising 25 employees in all phases of environmental and land-use management, and developed innovations in permitting, siting and building of affordable housing.
This was at the same time that she was an active advocate for the environment, instrumental in securing National Wildlife Refuge status for Protection Island, and halting the Northern Tier Pipeline, which would have transported oil underwater from Port Angeles, up over Protection Island and underwater again to Whidbey Island and Anacortes.
Lorna worked with Rep. Mike Chapman to ban salmon net pens in Washington, which would have posed incalculable risks to our native salmon.
She has been a leader and innovator on the Jefferson County Planning Commission where she wrote the indoor-only commercial gun range ordinance that was recently adopted by our county commissioners.
Lorna is endorsed by the National Women’s Political Caucus, Washington Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Tarboo Ridge Coalition, Rep. Mike Chapman and hundreds of individual voters in Jefferson County.
It is clear that Lorna has what we need to step into the role of county commissioner for District 2. Please join me in supporting her.
