Emerald Towns Alliance recently announced the dates for ShrimpFest, which is returning to the community after last year’s festivities were put on hold.
“We’re very excited to bring it back this year,” said Belinda Graham, a chairperson and organizer of this year’s celebration.
The event will take place in a new location, the Brinnon Community Center, on May 29 and May 30.
Due to the current COVID safety guidelines, live entertainment and the popular kid zone will not take place.
“We are still going to be taking all the precautions to make sure that we can do it safely, working with the county to ensure we’re following the regulations to make that happen,” Graham said.
Craft merchants and food vendors, along with the sale of Hood Canal shrimp, are still in the plans.
Incorporated this year will be a plant sale and raffle courtesy of the Quilcene-Brinnon Garden Club.
“It is our community’s largest fundraiser and proceeds go back to nonprofits in our area,” Graham said.
Past recipients through the years include the food bank, Parents Teachers Association, college scholarships for local high school students, Brinnon School programs, Boy & Girls Scouts, Center Valley Animal Rescue, and the Brinnon and Quilcene community centers.
