A group of 30-somethings and their supporters wound their way through the labyrinth of Manresa Castle up to the ballroom last Thursday, where chafing dishes waited and soft music piped through speakers. The event was the first of its kind, a collaboration between The Production Alliance and The Port Townsend Leader with the intent to focus on the county’s up-and-comers. The print copy of “Who’s Who Under 40”—which subscribers received and is available at The Leader office — listed more than 60 nominees, many of whom showed up at Thursday’s event.
The room was packed. Folks moved through a line-up of Castle-prepared noshes: Tofu skewers, balsamic-glazed Brussels sprouts, pot stickers and vegan jackfruit tacos. Folks laughed, applauded, participated in ice-breaker activities, and were in high spirits.
Kellen Lynch, owner of New Story Studio, emceed the event. As the crowd settled, a selection of youngsters took turns speaking about how this community has drawn them in, shaped them, and encouraged them. Judging by the crowd of all ages that gathered to support the Who’s Who crowd, the event appeared to be a success.
