The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to 312 calls between Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, including 13 animal complaints, 2 reports of assault, 4 burglaries, 2 incidents of disorderly conduct, 5 reports of domestic violence, 2 DUIs, 1 commercial fire, 2 missing persons, 5 noise complaints, 5 reports of shots heard, 9 traffic collisions, 4 thefts and 12 welfare checks.

Deputies also made 80 traffic stops during that period of time.

The following incidents are not all encompassing and represent a portion of incidents to which JCSO responded:

At 2:07 p.m., Oct. 30, a deputy responded to a report of a dog lying on the side of the road near milepost 2 on Anderson Lake Road. The caller stated they had seen the dog lying on the side of the road before 9 a.m., and at 2:07 p.m., it was still in the same location. The deputy located the dog and determined that it was not injured, but “just old, with a limp.” The deputy attempted to contact the dog’s owner, but no one was home.

A property manager called 911 at 6:20 p.m., Oct. 30 to report that multiple people were staying in a Port Hadlock vacation rental that had been paid for with a stolen credit card. The property manager checked on the house and found that people had moved into the residence, but no one was there at that time. Deputies responded to the scene and concluded that the suspects would return as they had left personal belongings at the house.

Surveillance cameras were set up, and at about midnight, the deputies received notification that a car had arrived at the residence. The deputies returned to the scene and encountered four people. A Tacoma resident was arrested for residential burglary, identity theft and forgery. That individual possessed stolen credit card information and also had an outstanding state Department of Corrections felony arrest warrant, officers found. There was also a large amount of stolen mail found in the house, which could lead to additional charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

A deputy responded to the Timberline Road area at 5:21 p.m., Nov. 1 after receiving a report of a burglary/theft. The victim reported that sometime during the day, someone had entered his unlocked residence and stolen two red tool boxes filled with tools, a white Specialized carbon fiber road bicycle and several other items. The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Joe Nole at 360-385-3831.

At 1:34 p.m., Nov. 4, deputies responded to Rhody Drive near Fiesta Jalisco in Port Hadlock, after receiving a report of a man walking down the road and damaging “No on Proposition 1” signs. Witnesses reported the man had pulled up to at least three signs, folded them, slashed them with a box cutter and “stomped” on them. Deputies contacted the suspect near Carl’s Building Supply, where he was arrested on three counts of third-degree malicious mischief, and removing or defacing political advertising.
