The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 291 calls for service from Sept. 4-10.

Deputies conducted 92 traffic stops, of which 7 resulted in criminal (misdemeanor/felony) charges.

Sept. 4: Deputies responded to a two-car collision in Port Townsend, where one driver failed to yield to another. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and only minor damage.

Sept. 5: Multiple reports of people shooting off fireworks in Port Townsend near the Larry Scott Trail. The area was patrolled, and no fireworks were seen or heard.

• In Port Ludlow, a minivan was reported to have stopped in the roadway and dumped oil before driving off.  The reporting party is sending security footage and photos of the suspected vehicle in hopes of identifying the culprit.

• Extra patrols were requested in a Port Ludlow neighborhood due to ongoing issues with neighbors. The reporting party initially complained of a woman having been seen walking around a cul-de-sac picking berries.

Sept. 6: Deputies assisted Port Townsend Police officers with an incident at an establishment in Port Townsend. Two were arrested for a reported assault at the Uptown Pub in Port Townsend. Both assailants were cited and trespassed from the establishment for a year.

• An abandoned car was reported in Port Townsend. It appeared that someone tried to burn the vehicle, as the interior was melted. The car was tagged for removal as it was parked in front of a private driveaway.

Sept. 7: A Port Hadlock reporting party complained of hearing something “terrible happening” at a neighboring house, but couldn’t make out what they were screaming. A deputy made contact, and discovered the noise was kids playing with dogs in their yard.

Sept 8: A Chimacum resident reported an attempted fraud. The reporting party responded to an online seller, who was requesting the wiring of funds before disclosing locations and pertinent info. The victim refrained from sending money, and was advised that if a deal sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. There are a lot of scams going around, so take precautions with your financial transactions and personal information.

Sept. 9: Multiple malicious mischief reports were made about pellet guns being shot at residences and cars in Port Hadlock and Port Ludlow areas, causing broken windows and damage to a car door. No suspects were reported.
