The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 285 calls for service from April 18, 2025 through April 25, 2025. Deputies conducted 70 traffic stops, of which 4 resulted in criminal (misdemeanor/felony) charges.

April 25:

- A deputy responded to a call regarding a dementia patient who had driven away from their home after not recognizing the house. A member of the patient’s family was following the vehicle via cell phone tracking. Washington State Patrol units in Mason County eventually were able to intercept the vehicle and get the patient safely back into their family’s custody.

April 26:

- A deputy responded to a traffic collision near Tarboo Lake Rd on Center Rd after a passerby reported a vehicle had crashed into the ditch. The driver was uninjured, reportedly having been distracted by deer. The driver was evaluated by EMTs and the car required a tow.

April 27:

- In the Gardiner area, a deputy responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on a private driveway after the property owner called to report the suspicious vehicle “packed to the roof with nitrous bottles”. The driver was long gone. The vehicle was impounded after nobody came back to try and retrieve it.

- In the Paradise Bay area, a deputy ultimately had to block a roadway after close to 100 vehicles and 500 people parked on the roadway to go clam digging on one particular stretch of beach. The road was blocked to the point residents and emergency vehicles were unable to drive down the road. More people were continually showing up. The beach is now closed to clam digging.

- A Bremerton man attempted to elude a deputy in the Chimacum area, after eluding Kitsap County units who attempted to stop the man. After a short pursuit the man surrendered and was arrested on a variety of felony charges. The man had a suspended license and was found to be transporting drugs, with evidence found indicating he was selling these same drugs.  The drugs were seized for destruction.

April 28:

- A deputy responded to the Port Townsend Safeway to assist Port Townsend Police with trespassing a repeat offender shoplifter, who proceeded to scream obscenities at staff when confronted by them. The shoplifter was located at her home, where she again yelled obscenities and was advised to not return to Safeway or she would be arrested.

April 29:

- Deputies and Port Townsend Police responded to an assault which medical staff believed may have involved a firearm. The victim was uncooperative with any investigation and the wound was confirmed to be more likely than not from something other than a gunshot.

April 30:

- A Hadlock area resident reported his and his dog’s medications were stolen. He believes the suspect to be his roommate. A deputy contacted both the reporting person and the suspect. The medications were definitely missing, however the mystery continues on what happened to them.

- A Brinnon man reported two trailers and multiple other items missing upon returning home. He’d received information from two other associates that the missing items were at a mutual connection’s property. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect already has multiple warrants for their arrest.

May 1:

- A Chimacum resident called stating their house had been burglarized sometime since April 25th. The front door was destroyed, and random pieces of jewelry hidden in the home were stolen. A passport, which was found to have been stolen several months ago, was left at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.

May 2:

- A car accident was reported in the Hadlock QFC parking lot, after an unattended vehicle rolled across the parking lot and struck another car, entrapping it within the space it was parked in. The situation had apparently resolved itself in the three minutes it took a deputy to arrive at QFC, where there was no trace the accident had occurred.
