The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 308 calls for service from Oct. 25 through Nov. 1. Deputies conducted 103 traffic stops, 8 of which resulted in criminal (misdemeanor/felony) charges.
Oct. 25: Jefferson County deputies responded to the Clallam County line after receiving word that various law enforcement agencies were in pursuit of a vehicle that had just been used in a violent robbery in the Carlsborg region. The vehicle was heading toward Jefferson County. Extensive search efforts by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Sequim Police, Port Angeles Police, Washington State Patrol and state Department of Fish and Wildlife eventually resulted in two suspects being apprehended and taken into custody after they were located via coordinated efforts involving a K9, ground search teams and a drone.
Oct. 26: Deputies responded to the area of Snow Creek after receiving a report that a vehicle crashed off the roadway. The incident was determined to be a collision reported earlier (around 3 a.m.) by the driver, who advised they were the only occupant of the vehicle and had slid off the road and hit a tree. The vehicle was investigated and determined to be the same one reported overnight.
Oct. 27: While on patrol in Port Townsend, a deputy spotted a vehicle driving poorly. Upon pulling the vehicle over, the deputy found the driver to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The driver was booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
– A caller in the Irondale area reported their spouse was missing and possibly marooned on the beach at high tide. Deputies quickly gathered resources (a drone and a patrol boat) to locate and rescue the subject if needed. Deputies arrived at the scene to meet with the caller and discovered the caller’s spouse was with the caller.
Oct. 28: Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle theft in the Chimacum area. The victim reported their ex had taken their vehicle without permission. The victim reported hearing the car start and seeing the suspect inside of the vehicle. The victim yelled at the suspect to not take the car. In response, the suspect locked the doors and drove away. The vehicle was believed to be going to Kitsap County. It was entered as a stolen vehicle. Later, the victim reported the suspect and vehicle had returned. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect on suspicion of auto theft.
Oct. 29: Deputies responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 20 at around 4 a.m. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies quickly deduced that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, which likely contributed to the collision. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The passenger was given a ride home.
Oct. 30: Deputies responded to a call in the Cape George area involving a person trespassing on their neighbor’s property. Deputies confronted the neighbor about being in the woods, which belong to the neighbor. At great length, the suspect told deputies about “the drones” and people walking through the woods. The suspect was told that running into the neighbor’s woods in the dark to confront people and cause issues was not the way to resolve these beliefs.
Oct. 31: Deputies responded to an assault in the Port Hadlock area involving an airsoft pistol. The suspect was initially reported to have either stabbed or shot the victim in the face. On arrival, deputies determined the victim was shot in the face with an airsoft pistol. A physical altercation ensued briefly before the two separated. The suspect was ultimately arrested for assault.
Nov. 1: Deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 near the Highway 104 onramp. The collision was reported to have resulted in no injuries. Washington State Patrol took the scene over after medics evaluated the occupants of both vehicles.
