Sprint Boat Racing is the last thing we need in Jefferson County. There is no place in the county that this extremely noisy activity could take place without wrecking the peace and property values of neighboring residents. It is just like the problems with the gun range.
Gun ranges could be totally enclosed in a building, but that is not an option for sprint boats. The fairy tale notion that sprint boats would bring economic gains is just that. A fairy tale.
I also disagree with the way this was presented in The Leader, with big splashy (photos), and essentially no critical review. And Scott is correct! We are doing well already, precisely because we do not have that type of noise decimating our community.
County residents are already under threat from the proposed gun ranges. This sprint boat business would be one more disaster, and hopefully it will never happen. Any property owner within a mile or more of the location would be severely affected.
Port Townsend and Jefferson County - don’t let this monster get loosed upon you!
