Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary has announced it’s students of the month for April.
The Rotary chose Kay Botkin and Soare Johnston for outstanding participation in sports.
Both students are seniors at Port Townsend High School and were selected by athletic staff based on the following criteria: team leadership, persistence in developing knowledge of sport,skill mastery and participation in multiple sports and activities during their high school years.
Botkin’s parents are Cameron and Jeremy Botkin. She has been a stand-out athlete in both soccer and basketball, according to the Rotary. After graduating, she will play basketball for Park University in Gilbert, Arizona.
Johnston’s parent is Gina Johnston. He has competed on both the cross country and track and field teams, excelling in distance running, according to the Rotary. After graduating, he will attend the University of Washington.
