The Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary Club has announced its Students of the Month.

River Kisler and Emillia Nunn are February’s Students of the Month. Both students are active in Mock Trial, and just finished competing in districts, where the Port Townsend High School Team earned first place. They will both be proceeding to state competition.

Kisler is also involved in Key Club, Knowledge Bowl and Redhawks Mentors. In addition to participating in high school leadership and service organizations, he also serves with the Jefferson County Democratic Party. His favorite subjects are history and language arts and he enjoys the challenge of advanced placement classes. He plans to continue his education at a four-year college and pursue majors in business administration and international relationship. He hopes to apply his education in a career of consulting, finances with consideration of politics and national service.

Nunn has participated in Mock Trial since middle school and also participates in Knowledge Bowl, swim team and Young Writers. While she enjoys advanced social studies, literature and French classes, vocational classes have influenced her life the most. After taking the culinary arts class, Nunn began an apprenticeship with Pane d’Amore and is using advanced media training to produce interviews of high school seniors for KPTZ radio. Nunn plans to take a gap year, then attend the University of Washington or Western Washington University for a double major in business and creative writing. She hopes to use her skills to teach abroad.

Each month, Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary honors students who excel in academic competition. The selection is based on a student’s willingness to go the extra mile, investment of personal time for mastery, team leadership, working to ensure success for all, growth in commitment and leadership.

Rotary is proud to recognizes the accomplishments of Port Townsend High School students. Each month a different aspect of student life is featured to recognize the diversity of student achievement.
