Robert (Bob) W. Reasoner

Bob Reasoner was born on April 16, 1928, to William and Helen Lou Reasoner in Berkeley, California, and passed away on June 13, 2022, after a brief illness in Silverdale, Washington.

Bob graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a double major, psychology and education.  He received his teaching credential at the University and went on to obtain a master’s degree in educationalaAdministration.

His career in education spanned over 40 years as a teacher, principal, and a superintendent.  He taught third grade through high school and was a principal in Martinez and Concord, California for 23 years.  He was a superintendent/principal of three schools at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany for two years.  Bob was superintendent of Moreland School District in Santa Clara, California for more than 15 years until his retirement in 1990. 

Bob was an internationally renowned educator, author and trainer. He developed a program, “Building Self Esteem in Children” for educators and parents that was translated into six languages and utilized in 20 countries spanning five continents.  He was a founder of the National Association for Self Esteem in 1986 and formed the International Council for Self Esteem in 1992. He and his wife, Nancy, traveled to more than 65 countries working with educators and training them on his “Building Self Esteem in Children” curriculum.  

Bob married Nancy on Sept. 7, 1974, and they shared 43 years together before Nancy’s passing on Aug. 19, 2018.  Bob and Nancy led a very active life during their retirement in Port Ludlow, Washington and had friends throughout the world.

Bob was a devoted Christian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Port Townsend for many years.  He volunteered his time to many worthy causes and maintained his love of education throughout his life.

Bob is survived by the six children that he and Nancy shared between them; Kathryn Reasoner, David Reasoner, Bruce (Joy) Reasoner, Sharon (Ed) Giampapa, Wendy Baldwin and Ann Baldwin; his three grandsons; Frankie Giampapa, Ryan Reasoner and Robert Reasoner; his brother Al (Alice) Reasoner and their children.
