Following their home meet victory last Wednesday, the East Jefferson Rivals wrestling teams made the trek to Bainbridge Island to participate in a mix-and-match event with Bainbridge Island High School and Seattle Academy.
Arriving on the mat Thursday evening, EJ’s grapplers continued their successful season with a 16-9 record out of 25 matches. Wrestlers Chloe Lampert, Ivy Hill, Grady White, Ike Banks, and Jameson Henery each ended their nights with two wins. The meet was especially valuable for White, Banks, and Henery, who shook off the rust following delayed starts to the season due to illness and injury.
“After two weeks of competition, we have three girls [Mi Amada Lanphear Ramirez, Chloe Lampert, and Melody Douglas] with a combined record of 22-0,” said EJ Girls Head Coach Jim Wilcox. “I look forward to all of our girls showing their best next Saturday at the Hammerhead Girls Tournament in Silverdale.”
The Hammerhead Girls Tournament is set for Saturday, Dec. 17, while the boys’ event starts Friday, Dec. 16.
The Rivals boys and girls wrestling squads were scheduled to face Cascade Christian School Wednesday, Dec. 14 in Puyallup.
