The East Jefferson Rivals football team has now won four straight games after a 47-6 thrashing against Bellevue Christian School on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The Rivals came to play, scoring three touchdowns after two quarters.

At halftime, the Rivals led 20-0, with plenty of room ahead.

Although East Jefferson didn’t quite pitch the shutout, allowing a touchdown in the third quarter, the near-perfect performance finished at 47-6 with the Rivals scoring seven total touchdowns.

EJ was dominant on both ends of the field, as their offense continued to perform above expectations, while the defense established a consistent foundation for the team to thrive.

A lot of players stood out on the offensive end as the Rivals fired on all cylinders in passing and rushing on the night.

Sophomore quarterback Cash Holmes led the offense to victory, completing five of nine passing attempts for 64 yards and a touchdown, as well as five carries for 44 yards.

On the running end, the team’s strong suit, the boys earned
300 total yards rushing and six TDs on the ground, as multiple players had opportunities to carry the ball into the end zone.

Senior running back Jerome Reaux Jr. led the team in rushing yards, with 94 yards on four carries and two touchdowns.

Junior running back Trevor Wilson carried the ball four times, netting 75 yards and a touchdown. Anson Jones, the senior running back, had 61 yards on five carries for a touchdown. Senior running back Logan Massie, the team’s usual ground weapon, tallied 30 yards rushing, with two touchdowns.

In the passing game, junior tight end Siaumau Auseuga caught a 13-yard pass for a touchdown.

The Rivals defense put on a clinic, only allowing one touchdown the entire game. Senior lineman Chris Fair and sophomore outside linebacker Malachi Azariah McDonald led the team in tackles, with five each.

Junior defensive back Austen Hammer rushed past the line to earn a sack for the defense on the night.

Senior defensive back Lonnie Kenney and sophomore linebacker Josiah Pennington each snatched an interception to cap off a dominant night.

After the win against Bellevue, the Rivals will be overjoyed to return home for their matchup Friday, Oct. 22 against Life Christian Academy.

EJ will have to remain focused, but should have a somewhat easy matchup against Life Christian, who’ve struggled to keep opposing offenses out of the end zone and sit at a 1-6 record.
