Lately, a barrage of insanely loud motorcycles have shattered the peace that is part of the charm of Port Townsend.
Even at the weekend show of Pigs on the Wing, drunken and rude people (clearly not from PT) ruined the show to such a point that we could either get stoned/drunk and join them or leave. We chose the latter.
Granted, tourism plays a large part of our unique economy, but where does respect and appreciation for the very place they are gravitating toward come into question? I’ve seen this kind of “mentality” befall previously lovely communities and, now, those same communities aren’t fit to inhabit.
Either law enforcement starts doing its job and controls this genuinely disturbing behavior or get ready to watch property values begin to sag and crime to soar. Not all tourists should be welcomed with arms open. Exhaust systems so loud that they rattle my windows on the third floor are ridiculous! I don’t know for what these folks are compensating, but it must be quite lacking.
May they either respect our community or swiftly take their insecurities and rudeness elsewhere.
