Regarding hunting

Posted

I always enjoy when The Leader writes about hobbies or sports. Hunting is not a hobby or sport. It is killing. The necessity for humans to kill animals in their natural environment for survival ended years ago in this country.
Hunting by humans is a profoundly selfish activity for people who like to kill and want approval for doing it.
We call the killings of humans a tragedy and the people who do it monsters. We call it serious news.
Reading a column about how hunters can stay safe when killing is ironic, unnecessary, and cruel. However, a column by animals describing how to stay safe from hunters or editorials questioning hunters’ motives with full backstories or lots of dead animal photos would really show fair and balanced reporting.
I can’t read a newspaper that hunting is encouraged in.
