The Port Townsend varsity Redhawks football team lost Friday’s home game against Sultan by a score of 68-18. This was the final game of the season for the Redhawks. Of the nine games they played this season, the Redhawks won four and lost five. They started off strong, beating Coupeville in their first game of the season on Sept. 6 with a score of 49 to 16. They struggled in their game against Forks on Sept. 20, losing with a score of 46 to 20. On Sept. 28, they were defeated by Charles Wright with a score of 46 to 6. As October rolled around the Redhawks gained some wins, beating Vashon Island on Oct. 4 with a score of 38 to 14. On Oct. 18, they beat Concrete in a close game, winning with a score of 36 to 34. In between, they took some losses, defeated by Bellevue Christian 41 to 14 on Oct. 11, and by Klahowya 51 to 16 on Oct. 25. But the team ended their season strong, with one of the most exciting games in Redhawks history: beating Chimacum in the last quarter of their game on Nov. 1, with a score of 24 to 22. Now that the season is over, PTHS students turn their eyes to winter sports. Boys and girls basketball and wrestling begins in December.
