The Raw Art Collective is announcing the return of the Port Townsend Artist Studio Tour on Saturday, Aug. 24.
This marks the first such studio tour since 2019, and promises to offer art enthusiasts and the broader local community alike what event organizers have described as “a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant creative spaces” of approximately 60 artists.
The tour is free and self-guided, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the diverse artistic practices and personal studios of local artists in Port Townsend and its surrounding areas.
According to event organizers, this year’s tour promises “an extraordinary variety of art forms,” including painting, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, photography, mixed media, ceramics and more.
“We are thrilled to bring back the Artist Studio Tour after a four-year hiatus,” said Jen Cohen, founder of the Raw Art Collective. “This event is a celebration of our local artists’ resilience and creativity. It offers a rare glimpse into their creative processes, and the spaces where their art comes to life.”
This year’s studio tour is sponsored and organized by Raw Art Collective, and supported by Northwind Art and the Port Townsend Creative District.
“The chance to be able to see into these makers’ spaces, and to spend a little time getting to know them, is what makes these open studio tours so cool,” said April Ottey, a participating jewelry artist and volunteer studio tour organizer.
Participants can plan their visits using the comprehensive studio tour map, available on the Raw Art Collective’s website.
The map, and detailed information about each participating artist, can be found online at rawartcollective.org/artiststudiotour.
The studio tour hours run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 24.
