Quilcene clobbered Mary M. Knight High in boys varsity basketball last week, overpowering the Owls 76-28 at home.
The Rangers jumped out to a 10-7 lead at the end of the first period and were up by 31-13 at halftime.
Quilcene exploded offensively in the third period to put the Owls away. The Rangers scored 29 points in the period, with nine points from Nathan Kieffer — including a three-pointer — and another eight added by Kevin Alejo.
Four Quilcene players also tickled the twine for added offense in the fourth, with Jayden Love, Isaiah Reimann, James Miller, Alejo, and Taylor Boling scoring in the total-team effort.
Reimann led all scorers with 22 points.
Kieffer contributed 19 points, Alejo had 18, and Love added 10. Miller finished with 10 points, and Boling, seven.
In the Rangers’ final game before the holiday break, the Rangers again came up short against the Oakville Acorns, slipping to a 71-60 defeat.
The Acorns dropped 20 points on the Rangers in the first period, and led after two periods 35-21.
Oakville outscored Quilcene 23-11 in the third and held on for the win.
Kieffer paced the Rangers with 28 points.
Reimann added 17, while Miller contributed nine and Alejo finished with four.
The Rangers are next scheduled to play in a conference matchup against Concordia Christian Academy on the road Jan. 4 in Tacoma.
