Quimper Mercantile is set to donate a percentage of its April 30 sales to Quilcene School District under a new program it has developed called Community Share.

Quimper intends to hold a school-giving day to benefit each school district in Jefferson County.

“We’ve reached a point in Quimper’s life where we can focus on giving back to the community,” said Quimper CEO Peter Quinn. “We want to do something that is visible, on purpose and assures the entire county receives the benefit. Our four school districts were a logical choice.”

Beginning with Quilcene School District, Quimper is to donate a percentage of its sales on that day to the featured school district.

Chimacum School District is to be the designated recipient school district on the following Sunday, May 7. School-giving days for the Brinnon and Port Townsend school districts are to follow when school begins in the fall.

“Each school district will receive a minimum of $1,000,” said Holly Mayshark, Quimper general manager, “we hope significantly more, but that will depend upon our sales on the day. Working with each school district, we hope to get out their supporters in order to maximize their share.”

“Quimper has a mandate from its shareholders to be of service to our community above all else,” said Quinn.
